An interview with Chander shekhar Goyal,Director of CSG Netwrok Pvt Ltd -a telecom system Manufacturer and Integrators at Air Jaldi Summit 2006, Dharmshala, Himachal Pradesh

Jagdish Singh : Tell Me some thing about your self ?

Chander Sekhar Goyal: I am currently director of CSG Netwrok Pvt Ltd. and presesident of Rain Technology India Ltd. I have 35 years experience in wireless technology. I have covered HF, VHF,VHF Micro Satellite, dedicated to RF. I want to help the growth of telecommunication industry in our country. We have exhibited our products and services in many countries like Singapore, Tashkent, Alma-Ata. On domestic front we have been regularly participating in trade fairs across different parts of country. We really want all enterprises to grow with help of emerging trends in Wi-Fi connectivity. On our part, we would expect other organizations to grow using these modern Communication tools and CSG, is all set to provide consultancy, system support, good quality products at affordable prices. Jagdish Singh : Tell us about your inclination to venture into this domain of Wi-Fi and your academic background ?

Chander Sekhar Goyal: I am an electronic engineer from BITS Pilani and then I did my master in Sciece from IIS Banglore. I satarted my career from Bharat Electronics. Right from the beginning, I had an affinity towards then mystical world of wireless. I was always fascinated by Wireless ,.For me, It has always been very amazing and fascinated field. It is good to be at Dharmshala, participating in Air Jaldi Summit 2006. It is my second visit here and Mr. Yahel Ben-David, who is incharge of this summit and now friend of mine, is using CSG froducts for Dharmshala wireless mesh network.

Jagdish Singh: Tell us about your clients base or diversity of users spectrum, who are using these technology and CSG products?

Chander Sekhar Goyal: We export to 22 countries, including Australia, USA, News eland, Israel, South Africa, Greece and CIS nations. We also do tern key project oversees. One of the best project, which CSG would always like to showcase, is Delhi Metro. CSG has provided Dehli Metro, wireless network infrastructure, starting from Vishvavidyalay to Central Secretariat, there are ten stations. CSG has provided Railways controls and communication over tetra and like Co-axial feeding system at the tunnel, at the plate form and stations area.

Jagdish Singh :Tell us about reason to be an entrepreneur instead of doing a safe and well paid job ?

Chander Sekhar Goyal:My first 25 years were in job and later 20 years in CSG as an entrepreneur. I think if you are true to your elements and interest then there is no difference between a job and business. Yes in business, you can take your own decision and time is yours, where as in employment, your are bound by the objectives of organization and management, here you set your own objectives.

Jagdish Singh:Tell us about your early days of entrepreneurship ?

Chander Sekhar Goyal: It has been always challenging. If you do a good job, you will always find a lot of support. You should be transparent and you have to be sincere. That is essence of all success.

Jagdish Singh :About venture capital when you started ?

Chander Sekhar Goyal: Very good question. One time it all started with just Rs 50 thousands around 1989.At that time, manufacturing in India with our own design was quite profitable. Initially two of us, started with a company with total investment of Rs 1 lac and we clicked a turnover of Rs 75 lacs and it was very profitable. There after I was again doing job at a salary of Rs 1 lac and in 1996, I started my enterprise with just one month salary. Handwork and past experience paid me well, since then it has been consistent growth. I also than my staff and engineers, who were always there with their handwork and support.

Jagdish Singh :What is present turnover of CSG ?

Chander Sekhar Goyal:Our company's total turnover is Rs 12 Crore. Out of this, 60 percent, we have generated from export.

Jagdish Singh :Any thing else in your mind, which you would like to share ?

Chander Sekhar Goyal:I am thankful, that you are asking for my opinion. For that I am too small and here in summit, here is Galaxy of great people, whose opinion really matters. I am just operating at ground level with ground logistics.
